Living in the south west on England. It’s a quiet tucked away setting (in a woodland) which is just how I like it.
Planning to spend my old age by the sea.

Thank you for your kind words, but I can see you have a real passion for what you do and love your work. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts (and hope you get back to having a kiln handy soon too).

The West Country? Tell me more: I went to school in Gloucester and university in Bristol … before I emigrated!

In that case we are well connected. Gloucester is beautiful, my brother lives in Moreton-in-the-Marsh but we were born in Bradford-on-Avon when it was a quiet medieval village / town. Like most pretty places has grown out of all proportion. I moved 7 miles (and a world away) to the countryside and now have a Bath address. My daughter teaches at Bristol University which is one of the top universities in the country so you have a good pedigree. If you attended pre 1980’s + you must be a clever man as not many made it to such a high level in those days (including myself). Do you ever feel homesick, I wonder?

I love Bradford-on-Avon, though I don’t know it well. My beloved is from Frome and I have cousins in Trowbridge, Wilts. I was in Bristol from 1963-66. Well before the ’80’s. It had a very good reputation back then. I went on to Grad school in Canada. Came for a year and stayed forever. Homesick? Hiraeth! I haven’t been back to the UK for nearly 30 years. This is home now. I love the Gloucestershire names, too. I had friends in Bourton-on-the-Water!

Oh, I didn’t even mention those towns – Frome, just down the road, Trowbridge, where I do my weekly food shop. Small world, eh? 🙂 Glad to hear you are well settled in Canada. Lovely ‘chatting’ to you. I expect we are both sitting inside by the fire as we type. Despite months of very warm weather, just today winds have turned arctic on us – and we are NOT used to it at all! Have a good remainder of the weekend. B X

My beloved did her RT at The Royal in Bath, About five years ago we invested in a heat pump. Only need a fire now [wood-burning fireplace insert] if and when we lose electric power. Happens in winter storms. Love it for Christmas though and special occasions. Here’s the link for KIRA. You’ll have to copy and paste I expect. KIRA = Kingsbrae International Residencies for the Arts. It’s in St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, New Brunswick, Canada.
